B,
You aren't the only one going through it. I had a parent complaining to me because asking for parents to volunteer at the carnival. Who else is supposed to? The staff are so tired of our parents that a lot of them don't want to help at any events because they are barely hanging in there too. I haven't even had time with my kids at a carnival in 3 years, what's 30 minutes in a booth that your child can help you run.
Our last principal used to yell at me for not tracking my hours because they turn them in for some district thing. The one time I tried, I came up with 168 hours for one month and that was just what I could keep track of. I told her that tracking my time was the fastest way to make me snap. Every night this week I have worked on PTO stuff during our family time, sometimes even having my kids do stuff. My husband is so ready for me to be done. My middle child said he didn't even care if there were carnivals and field trips next year, as long as I am available to do stuff with him.

I get tired of everyone b$#@!ing that things aren't being done FAST enough for them - well news to all - I HAVE A FULL TIME JOB AND A HOUSEHOLD TO TAKE CARE OF...SOCCER...ETC. Agh. I am not a happy person right now and the more I think about it the more peeved I get. Do they honestly know what all I do at HOME for the PTO?????????????? NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Sorry - I am venting. I'll stop now.
On a positive side, we just bought a 56 inch TV. Oooohhhh it's nice.

What is it with those parents who sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else do all the work?!?!?!
Oh, wait, that would be me.
Seriously, if I hadn't just happened to move at the end of my last term as president I think I still would have been very, very involved. I'm a big fan of term limits. I don't recommend stepping as far back as I have but slowing down to catch your breath can relieve a lot of stress and recharge your batteries!

d- my principal and everyone else wants to make sure that I am pres until my youngest gets out of 4th. ( he's in K now ) - I don't know if I can do it that long. I always start out gung ho - but w/ little help from parents my drive deminishes (sp check) quickly each year.
Just an update on the pickle smell-the coffee beans seem to be helping. Not perfect but so much better than before. I'm going to shampoo the interior as soon as the carnival is over and hope that takes out the rest of the smell. It's funny what we do and put up with to help make our school the best we can.

Oh yeah, T - I know the Frankenstein walk well. I had the same thoughts you do - why am I killing myself?!?!?! It hurts so bad but it'll be worth it. What is it the Marines say? Pain is just weakness leaving your body. If they weren't so hot in their uniforms - and a lot tougher than me - I'd punch them for saying that. Hang in there, girl! You can do it!!! 8 months til bikini weather.
