Your principal failed you when he didn't say, "Let me check with LUV since she knows all the details of this year's event."

So many volunteers overcommit this time of year or panic when it get's to be two weeks until Christmas and they're behind on everything. I guess they forget that you also have a life outside of PTO and might be behind on a few things yourself.

Last year I committed to bake 4 dozen cookies for the Staff Cookie Exchange. An easy thing to do. I had it on my calendar and had even gone out on Monday and bought all fresh ingredients - because I had the event written on my calendar for Tuesday instead of Monday. Oooops. Luckily the co-chair anticipated and booked extra volunteers to make up for the few airheads like me!

I agree with Silver and dlf - do whatever you can with a smile on your face and invite loundmouth ex-chair to cover the rest!

Then spend Friday night with a bubble bath, a trashy novel and a Peppermint Schnapps cocoa!

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

There's just no good way to deal with this. I only had 2 folks show up to be part of the craft committee. I decided to go for it and when folks showed up just had them rotate in. Doesn't sound like that type of event though. But you know what---keep a smile up and know that if even one child gets a craft because of your efforts...then it's worth it. I'll say something Christmassy in your name today...maybe you'll feel the good vibes....d

Call last years chair (the one who spoke to the Principle to keep it going longer) and nicely state "I am so glad you spoke up and want to keep this great event going longer this week. We will need you to run the event the following days becasue we only had enough volunteers for the previously set days. I look forward to seeing how successful you'll be on these days!"
That otta cook that persons cake pretty good.

My Christmas spirit disappeared last night. Why? Because of the lazy, can't keep a promise to help people I have been encountering these last couple of weeks. Tons of people promised to help with our craft event, so my friend and I find projects, put together supplies and get things scheduled. Then all these people bail. We only have a handful of helpers left, so we figure we'll get through for the three days. Then last year's chair goes to the principal and convinces her that this event should go all week. So now, we don't have near enough help and my friend and I both work and can't take off an ENTIRE WEEK. We scramble to get things set up this morning and the one volunteer who was supposed to come doesn't show up and we figure out that we will have to cancel the Wednesday sessions unless we get some volunteers.

There was some help thrown our way: I told one of the teachers whose class is supposed to come Wednesday of our plight and she is going to send a note to her parents and one of the associates is helping this morning. I just want to cry. This whole year has been this way. It's so depressing.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

It's Monday ... yup definately Monday today.
Wasn't able to get much farther on the Obama book but did see a indepth news program on the presidency options currently under discussion which makes me glad I picked up the book. I have to say that if they put him on a ticket with Clinton (no matter whos in which spot) it will be to his demise. Don't get me wrong I am all for a woman running ~ I am just pretty sure she's not the right one.

I'm having Mojito Monday tomorrow night with a bunch of the girls. We're having mojitos of course, gluwhein, and red apple martinis (with glasses dipped in crushed candy canes ). Then lots of nibbles and bits....should be fun, low key and I'm inviting all the people I know are fun. I don't know/care if they like each other or not:)...

I'll let you know how it goes...d
