CC- lucky you.

Ga- This all depends on how you look at it. D maks some very good points. My grandparents are from the South and practically rasied me and we only had water, milk (which I hate), tea or coffee. I've been making and drinking coffee since I was 5. This isn't necessarily a good thing but I can tell you I didn't notice any of it's addictive properties (because there was always tea) until I hit college and NEEDED it. My youngest likes to get something when I get a coffee and Starbucks has a kids size apple juice, milk, choc milk, and hot choc for about $1. If you want your kids to not like coffee just to nip it in the bud, take them to a coffee shop and offer them a shot of espresso, it's very bitter on it's own and most adults won't drink it straight, let alone kids. My kids like coffee but they only get it when no school and in a small dose.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Way to go CC! Now the interesting thing will be to see how your husband reacts to this in the next couple of days.
i hate those phones people where on their ear. They look so silly. i don't even particularly like the cell phone holders on peoples pants. but then again, i am not a cell phone person period. i have one only for the simple fact that i go to school 45 minutes away from my kids school, and my husband is another 40 minutes away in the opposite direction.

Ok--what kinds of parties are yall doing at school this week? I have breakfast and cookie decorating, along with a polar express on Tuesday. i think i am more excited about the polar express than the kids are.

Nope--kids won't be getting frappa, cappa, anything. I think they just saw the cup with the lid and thought that was cool. maybe I should just put their milk in those. I'm not overly zealous on the nutrition thing, but I agree with you all on teaching them the value of good eating habits. they get enough junk as it is now, especially when ball season is going and we do more fast food than anything else. We currently are crazy over the ruby red grapefruit right now.

I agree its a family thing.

Luckily my children 'cept 2 yr old despise soda (mainly the fizz I think), and have licked or tasted my coffee (I'm a coffeeholic) and hate it.

Juice, H20, Kool-aid and Milk are their drinks of choice (and occaionally hot-chocolate)

I too would be more worried more about the energy boost drinks (Red Bull, etc) than my children drinking coffeee, etc.

CC- If a man wnats to buy your lunch and Hubby doesnt pummel him, then let him. More money to spend on Shorty

Budget??? Is that one of those Urban Myth thingies???

Aw, thanks Silver! What a nice thing to say.

We went to the mall to see movies. Hubby saw The Fountain and Shorty and I saw Unaccompanied Minors. Hubby said his movie was awful, very David Bowie/The Man Who Fell to Earth SciFi crap. My movie was cute. A fun, silly, low thought process holiday movie that the Shorty LOVED.

Good for you, Silver, for working on the caffeine habit. Hubby is trying to back off. I am too but mostly because of the cost. If our newly acquired business is going to be a success, someone around here has to start living on a budget!

CC - no need to apologize to anyone including yourself - no need to feel unnerved unless you let it. Take it as a compliment. Not only did he see outer beauty he seen the inner beauty we see on this post each day.
You still got it baby!!

Starbucks and local coffee houses/shacks have made cappuccinos, mochas and such the cool new thing. I don't know if they have any more caffeine and sugar in them as many sodas do. If my son liked the taste of them, I probably wouldn't mind if he drank them but I'd expect him to follow the same limits and retrictions as he has on soda (none on school nights, one or two a day otherwise, etc.) The big thing for me would be the cost since even the smallest 12oz orders cost around $3.50. I might indulge an occassional treat but if he had a regular habit I'd expect him to buy his own. It's the hyper sodas like Red Bull that I don't allow at all.

OK, the most improbable thing happened today and I'm still a little unnerved by it. I was in the food court and the gentleman in line in front of me flirted with me and even bought my lunch - hawaiian chicken which was very yummy. I said no thanks but he handed the cashier the money anyway. Here's the thing. I've been married for 24 years! The only person to flirt with me in the past 25 or so years has been my husband. It was so weird. Hubby was actually with me but he and the shorty were already at a table waiting for me. He was a bit jealous but tried not to show it. Truth be told, he actually looked kinda confused! I send out a seriously unavailable vibe. The guy was my type, tall, athletic, handsome but had two major strikes against him - sunglasses on inside and a blue tooth phone pod thing stuck to his ear. Oh well, it was worth it to see the look on hubby's face!
