The parents who constructed the Plinko board got the instructions off the internet. they said it wasn't hard just time consuming because you have to insert all these little pegs.
As for our cake walk-we don't have parents bake the cakes. We use a local grocery store bakery. they make these small 8" single layer cakes that are decorated beautifully and packaged in containers. They sell them to us at $3.00 each and we simply send an order form home and parents donate as many cakes as they would like. We also make up labels with the donors names(the kids) and put them on the cakes. When a child wins he can look for a cake with his name on it if he wants.
C. Brooks!!! I am so glad to hear of another school who has a king and queen contest. We net about $13K from ours. People can not believe how sucessful it makes our carnival. Our whole carnival (king & queen, spaghetti supper, silent auction, carnival) netted us $20K. It is the only fundraiser we have.
A Pickle Walk is simply a cake walk where we give away pickles. Until last year, we had a local pickle plant that donated and last year we had a family step in and donate the pickles. When we got them from the pickle plant they were already individually packaged. The family used one of those vacumm sealers and sealed them. We give out about 300 pickles.
We have always shied away from a cake walk. Some people are very leery of who might have baked a cake. We do have a cookie walk, but all the cookies are donated by a couple of local restuarants.
Last year we had a haunted house for the first time since I've been around. It was non-stop. We finally had to send kids away so we could go home, they had already been through it several times.
This year I think the fall festival committee is going to do a well needed over haul. One mom is planning a Harry Potter room or Wizard room with different activities.
Last year since we didn't have art during that semester we ordered crafts for every child to make for the craft booth. This was highly successful with teachers and students. We chose simple crafts and volunteers went around helping each class. This year I think they are going to set up a craft table so the kids can sit and make the crafts at the festival.
Our king and queen/prince and princess contest is at least 30 years old we net around 10k from it. It is the backbone of our PTO funds.
Ok...I give...I want to know what a Pickle Walk is too! and how a Plinko board is constructed.
Other ideas:
Fishbowl toss. Person tries to toss coins into a fishbowl. If they do, they win a prize. Coins are kept if they do or don't make the toss.
Also, Loop the Bottle - Bottles are laid on their side. Person who can loop the string over the bottle and stand it up straight wins a prize.
Me too. What is the pickle walk? We have a fall carnival too. But the games are the same ones they have been using for the last four years. Can you tell me more about some of your games. How did you build the plinko wall? email me dirrectly if you want or I will check back here. thanks
