RUN! No not away, for election! If she is the troublemaker you say, there will hopefully be enough savvy, wise members to see through any facade she puts on. If she gets elected anyway, then so be it. You do whatever you can to help around the school and wait until the next year, then run again.
If you speak openly and honestly with people about the direction you would like to take the group if you get elected, then they will hopefully vote for the right person. That means you!
email me and I can send you a copy of by-laws for reference. I would get as many people there that will back you up & vote for you. Since you are already a part of the pto, many will feel comfortable with you & know what you are capable of. Good luck!!!
Our Pres. has already stated that she would not run again. As VP I have been asked by the Pres and Principal if I would be interested in the position. Yes.
Problem: A parent that rarely attends fundraisers, has never been to a meeting this year has made it know that she is want to be Pres. She is a well known troublemaker to the regulars, but may be able to sweet talk her way in with the newbies.
No one seems to know where a copy of the bylaws are at, so we don't know what our position is. If she wins, I have no hard feelings, it's just that I know she'll run the group/school into the ground. For that reason alone, the rest of the board has said that they will resign if she's elected. What to do?
