Thanks for the pep talk. I'll keep you informed on what's taking place.

Regardless of the situation your board really needs to find it bylaws. Do you have ex officers you can ask about them? If they are truly not to be found anywhere then your board should really enact new ones.

No matter how nice this woman can be to the newbies I am sure pleanty of people will be urging everyone to vote for you. The fact that she does not come to things and has no board experience should speak volumes about why you would not vote for her. Why would anyone in their right mind vote for someone with zero experience and no involvement over a qualified, compitent, experienced person. The fact that she want to bypass everything and jump right to the top should speak volumes as well. Anyone who would aspire to do that clearly has no idea what they are in for.

That is the funny thing about the stuff we worry the most about, it works out in THE strangest ways! What happens to the whinny kid that has tohave their way all the time and just makes things awful for the other kids? No one wants anything to do with them and eventually they change their way but until then the other kids learn how to cope and enjoy the company of each other....with and with-out.

No matter what happens, you will be fine and if she is voted in....well, there are really great hobbies out there and teachers that need your talents! But like that senerio will happen!!!

Do you run a membership drive at the beginning of the year? Do you have a record of those members?

We will be having this same problem in April but I plan on utilizing the member list (since I was the chairperson of the drive) to make sure that everyone who votes is actually a member. And each family is allowed one vote.

We had a runoff vote a few years ago before I was involved, but I saw how one woman brought all of her friends & family (who didn't even have children in our school) to vote for her. She ended up winning by a landslide but I bet most of her votes were not valid.

Oh, I plan on running, It's just that I don't want it to get ugly. I just can't believe that someone who has never attended a meeting this year thinks she should be pres. I can't quite figure out what her agenda is.

I would run for pres too!!! I dont see why you both can't run and like someone else said get enough people to back you up.
We are having the same issue at our school I don't think she will run for pres but I think she might run for something. But let the people know what your goals are, what you would like for the PTO etc.

Good Luck

Cindy
