Hi mberd,
Thanks for getting in touch! We get you about how you feel like your head is spinning! For a breakfast and back-to-school event, you could try to visit local businesses and ask them to help. Sometimes, making that personal connection will make all the difference The business may ask for more information about your group, so it would be helpful to have something on hand. Do you have a summary about your group? (We're the PTO at XXX school. Our mission is XXX. In the past year, we've run XXX events and raised XX to support the following programs and events: XXXX). This type of summary is always good to have on hand.
One thing to consider, you could use our auction letter as a basic template. Delete references to auctions and substitute in "teacher breakfast and back-to-school event." Include a summary of your group in that letter. Then bring it along with you to give to business owners when you visit them.
Thank you! I am from an elementary school of about 500 children K-5. I am loving all the information you have been posting. It really gets your head spinning.
We don't have a silent auction, but I'm looking for donations from local businesses for food for our welcome breakfast for teachers and the back to school party. Do you have any advice for requesting those kinds of donations?
I am also interested in sample donation letters, if you wouldn't mind please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
