We are looking at starting concession at our school during school events. Does anyone know what is required for us to sell hot dogs? Do we need a business license? A food handlers card? We have been doing popcorn at some of our events but we have had request for hot dogs, chips and drinks. Not sure what the legalitys would be for doing this. A read several remarks that talk about a consession stand but a lot of our school functions are in the gym at our school. We did a walkathon outside a few weeks ago and it was a success but some parents would have liked us to have consessions.
Thank you for any input in helping our school get started.
Jaime N, We sell Hot Chocolate, Ramen Noodles and other hot drinks and never had a problem. At 1 football game we sold over 900 cups of hot chocolate. We literally couldn't boil the water fast enough.
Other thing that we sell are
Taco's in a bag (walking tacos)
Hot Dogs
Burgers
Chick Fil A
Nacho's
Pretzels
Chicken fingers
Meatball Parm Sandwiches
Assortment of candy
Pickles, chips, and slim jims
Cold drink and Hot drinks
for the 2013-2014 school year we are considering making Buffalo Wings.
We average between $2500-$3000 in sales at each football game, all depending on weather.
Does anyone have a good idea on how to keep pizza's warm in a concession stand that does not have a pizza warmer? The pizza place let us borrow their insulted carrier, but it did not do the job. Thanks
Burger and tacos was a very good idea i am wondering that why some fundraising did not think that food was a good option to collect money.I've been a fundraiser in Finland country for two years in www.pilkkoset.fi/ and i always think different kinds of idea however i did not think about this one which i feel a very good idea.
Frito Pie is generally popular for us. Just Chili in a bag of fritos with cheese and sour cream. You can make a pot of chili for next to nothing... we often have that donated so our outcost is for the individual frito bags, spoons, sour cream and shredded cheese.
