I am new to the PTO Board and we have just joined GL Scrip. It was so helpful to see the comments here in deciding which way to go. I have a local company ordering a large quantity of scrip to use as employee recognition/awards.
Has anyone else tried partnering with a local corporation?
We will try marketing to families this fall. Any tips on getting families on board?
I am so glad that we are commenting on Great Lakes - just in case things start to go wrong. Since we started ordering from them in October (after ScripAdvantage) we have had 1 backorder at Christmas time and that was a fast food place. So far, so good.
Both my grade school and high school use Great Lakes and have for years with no complaints! not until I read this board was I aware that other scrip companies were failing. I am looking for tracking software..have any other coordinators purschased software for order, inventory, family credit tracking? Please let me know This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it....I'd appreciate it.
Our school has started our scrip program within the last month and we have placed two orders so far with Great Lakes Scrip Center - they've have been nothing short of reliable and accomodating! We're very pleased.
I have been using Great Lakes for a year and a half. In that time I have only had one item backordered - and I had that a week later.
I have only had one small issue and it was resolved immediately. The company strives for excellent customer service.
I am the coordinator for a high school band. We use this to raise funds for individual student accounts to be used for band trips etc (We went to Prague last year)
As far as getting your order going... I found the best way to get student involvement was to make a presentation to the students and hand out all the forms. We did our very first order before Christmas 2004. We had an order of over $17,500. I was almost overwhelmed.
Since then I have learned a LOT. I have created several different order forms using excel.
I still make a presentation in November for the early December order. Again, I brought in forms. Since we only order once a month, I send out an email with the latest vendor list, a link to the website and the basic order forms I had created.
I would be more than happy to share documents I have created with any one who is interested. Creating forms to track profit BY STUDENT took me a long time to perfect. Feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
How did you get your programs going? We are new to GL Scrip, as of this school year, and we are having trouble getting parents on board. Any advice??
