I have been thinking about doing the same thing, haven't really researched it though. My son has been getting bullied, he is 6, and the kids that have bullied him are 11-13, which really *(^*^ me off. My son at 6 years old is 4'5" and 95 lbs, so everyone always thinks he is older than he is, which is tough on him, but that's a whole other story. Anyway, I want someone to talk to the kids and teach them how to deal with the bullies, actually how to deal with their own feelings about being picked on. If I find any info I'll post back. We have a big problem w/ bullying. One parent is very upset because her son resorted to kicking a kid who was calling him names. Had told the teachers numerous times and the teachers just said "Don't do that." The kid was suspended for kicking, the other kid who used fowl language in his name calling received no disipline. The mom is trying to keep communication open w/ her son, but confided to me that she doesn't want her son to be one of those kids who brings a gun to school to deal w/ the kids picking on him.
Our school has $2000 Title I money to have a family event or 2. I think it would be great to have a Bullying Program/Assembly. I think we should do it during school so that the kids who really need to hear it will be there. Then we can invite families to come as well.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am at a loss where to start. We need to write a proposal to get the money.
