I see these items advertised everywhere.
Seems legit, but it is def a timeshare sales opportunity.
Although the fine print says that the guests are under no obligation to hear the sales pitch.
Personally, I would not pay the taxes/fees for the bidder.
It's not that awesome of a item.
Use those funds somewhere else.
ie: get a disney package and buy hotel rooms, etc...
Since my auction has ended (1 week ago), the Cancun people have contacted me and are offering to sell extra trips, for thank you gifts, etc...
Selling them for 30.00 - 50.00, depending on the property.
Has anyone heard from the winning bidders of the Sunset Vacation certificate? We received the $600 voucher and are going to pay the $179 in fees and taxes for the winner. But we want to make sure this is a legit thing to be auctioning off and their won't be any problems.
The ticket cost does sound high, but is that typical of your community? Some things to consider: Early bird ticket prices (slightly reduced if people buy them early), more promotion using social channels to reach people and get the word out, a door prize (donated, so it doesn't eat into your costs) and adding stuff made by the kids (parents love to bid on those items!).
Does anyone have any suggestions for increasing attendance at an auction? The price point is high at $125/person for the auction and gala. But that is what the school needs to charge (We're in Washington DC area). Any other thoughts, incentives, etc?
