I am still recovering from our Gala, and it was almost two weeks ago! Our Gala is mainly supported by alumni, and a few parents only. Since we are a high school there is always a lot of activities and sporting events going on. We are not an affluent school, but we are a private school with many supporters. This was my first year chairing the auction and being on the Gala committee. I am so proud to state that this year's auction doubled what was done last year. And as you know, even though it takes so much hard work and energy, it is always worth it when it supports a worthy cause.

We received the Elite donations as well. I offered them, CLEARLY and BOLDLY stating that there was an additional, mandatory purchase. Because of this, we started the bidding really low, $250. We only sold one. No worries though, that's $250 more than we would have made, right!

OH MY GOSH!! You must definitely be in a much "higher rent" district than we are. We average around $30,000 from our annual auctions. $200,000!!! I would literally #$%@ my pants if we ever did that high. Plus, we could never sell tickets at $150. We wouldn't get anyone to come! LOL. We barely got 100 people to come this year at $40 per ticket. Congrats to you girl! That is awesome and a great showing for your hard work!

If you are going to receive a donation from American Girl, you will get a letter about one month prior to your event. If not, you will not hear anything. I called and asked if I could find out if we were getting one because I wanted to purchase a matching girl and doll outfit, but never got a response. Luckily, my letter showed up a few days later!
