hi
i got the wheel of fortune gift bag last week,, in the bag the items were a key chain, two little kid size pat and vanna toys that talk , vip passes to the show and i few other little items.. if anyone wants it, im in the boston area and really cant use it at all.
I was the winning bidder on the Elite Island Resort certificate for the Morgan Bay Resort in St. Lucia, at our school auction recently. Just so you know, it is NOT a good deal, and personally, I don't think Elite Island Resorts is doing anything philanthropic by "donating" these certificates to every organization that asks.
Here's the skinny--
Although they claim the item is worth up $3100, it wasn't clear when I bought the certificate that the user must pay $110 per person per day to use the certificate.
What that means is for my family of three (2 adults and a 5 year old), we paid $400 for the "privilege" of paying an additional $280 PER NIGHT for 7 nights to stay there. Airfare to St. Lucia isn't cheap from California either--it's about $1000 per person, but I knew that going in.
However, if I go to resort's website to book directly, I can take advantage of their current special to pay $119 per person per day, AND get $1200 off towards airfare for two adults (600 each)
So really--the certificate is basically worthless. I am returning it to my school and am going to get a donation receipt instead which I would much rather have than this piece of paper.
I plan to let our PTO know that I absolutely DO NOT support selling these kinds of items at our school auction. Afterall, we don't want to rip off the parents that support us.
This is just a sales tactic on the part of Elite Island Resorts. I encourage you not to try to add these items to your auctions.
We received Sesame Place and Dutch Wonderland. Sesame will only send tickets if you are within a 25 mile radius. We did not receive anything from Great Adventure. I think it took about 4-6 weeks for the others to arrive.
