Hi.
I have been reading this forum non stop for 2 days! What great information.

This is my second year chairing the silent auction for my church and I have learned a lot here.

Just a few comments.

For those looking for "local" donations in their area, I can only suggest you go out and visit them.

As for the corporate gifts, this is great. I have just started this week for my church so I will share my successes when I have more.

I did just complete one for a national charity and if you have a Golfers' Warehouse in your area, they were very generous.

Dolphin Mom,

I'm sorry if I have missed other responses, but I'm confused. If we were to use one of these on our silent auction table, what would the beginning bid need to be?

Is this an outright donation to the organization from Yucatan Holidays, or do they get a specific amount back from each one?

I know that some of the items that I have seen offered on Bidding for Good require you to begin the bid at an outrageous dollar figure.

Thanks for helping me understand.

To someone willing to share...

I was just looking back at past messages and found an offer from Mary over 5 months ago willing to share donation request letters that have gotten good responses. I have had some luck with mine, but tend to be too wordy at times. We are having our first auction in the fall. So, I would love to see some samples if anyone is willing to share them to get some better responses. If so, please email them to me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
