I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I've has 2 family members who were stricken with breast cancer and I am a big supporter for many women's heath/breast cancer organizations.
Since you are not a non-profit or affiliated with one, my suggestion would be to not re-make the wheel. If your goal is to raise money for breast cancer research there are many active non-profits that would love your energy and support. They constantly need to fund-raise and have the proper status that you do not have. But many non-profits are different. Some give to research, some give to aid in health care. Do your research to see which non-profit fits you the most.
If you do align yourself with an organization you can than solicit companies for monetary and in-kind donations.
I hope you succeed in your effort to raise money for breast cancer research. I'll be rooting for you!
When doing a fundraiser for something so personal as breast cancer you are better off getting your support from all of the local business. Have lots of letters ready and hit the pavement asking them all in person.
The majority of companies or businesses only donate to registered non-profit charities, not individuals. Some are more specific and will only donate to schools or education related organizations.
I want to hold a corn hole tournament over the summer to raise money in honor of my mom for breast cancer research. This is a cause so dear to my heart and I want to raise as much money for breast cancer research as I possibly can. My question is - Can I get donations from these companies people post about? Or do they only donate to organizations? I'm just a 19 year old in college, and I don't know much about ways to fund raise and get sponsors/donations. Can anyone give me some advice?
