I think every auction is different, the items, the people,the pocketbooks, the time of day, etc.
I think most auctions are in the 70% range on ROI, and really wellcontrolled auctions break 100% ROI.
That

is your goal, toincrease your Return On Investment until you are at or over 100%
But here is your basic formula.

Total Sales / Total FMV = percentage.
My numbers from 2010 are provided.
Total Sports Sales / Total Fair Market Value of Sports =80.65%
Total Memorabilia Sales/ FMV of Memorabilia=197.31%
Total Getaway Sales/ Total FMV=54.44%
Total Dining Sales/Total FMV=66.86%
Total Jewelry Sales/Total FMV=71.45%
Total Principal Item Sales/Total FMV=251.08%
Total Vacation Sales/ Total FMV of Vacations=64.75%
Total Music Sales/Total FMV=129.03%
Total Student Classroom Projects w Room ParentsSales/FMV=225.54%
Total Student Classroom Projects w Teachers Sales/FMV=90.4%
Experiences with Teachers/FMV=150.26%
Fitness Health Beauty/FMV=26.56%
Baskets Sales/ FMV=77.22%
Boutique Sales/FMV=51.89%
Children's Baskets/FMV=20.0%
Then for Grand Total = Total Sales / Total FMV=88.7%
Your lowest yields will come from used items, antiques,children items, Services.
Your highest

yieldswill come from Boy Toys, Wine and Dining, and Items created by students anddonations from principals and teachers.

here is a question for those of you who have been holding auctions/events for your school?

How much on average can a school make based on the dollar amount values of donations? For instance, if you school receives 5,000 worth of donations, how much money can you expect to make from your event? Is there an average like 10% or 50%? I wondered if there was anything to say how much we can make based on the amount of donation values we have.

I would suggest doing a combination Tricky Tray and Silent Auction for certain items such as the Disney Park Hopper tickets. A silent auction is not a raffle. Good luck!

htate - im from central illinois and know your pain.. try some of the museums in Louisville for you all.. like the little league museum maybe they will give some tickets or a bat. How about the zoo?? something like that may be an idea. how about Holiday World will they donate tickets? Just a few thoughts..

American Girl - I sent my letter late Jan and got a yes letter back last week - just waiting on the package
Cabot - I got a no saying they do not sell in our area - they do, but maybe not enough locations?
