Our school starts on August 25th. This will be my second year as President of PTO and 4th straight year on Executive Committee. My kids school is 23 miles away. Some days last year I made 6 trips back and fourth to town. With gas prices this year, I will have to limit the extra trips I make to school (not counting the drop off and pick ups because we do not run busses)The school staff is just going to have to learn how to email me and pull up attachments of flyers better this year!
I read all of your posts and you give me a lift and a smile that PTO's every where have a lack of involvment and a few overworked volunteers. Thank you. We did just finish our first week of school and my first week of h*&l of my first year as PTO president. I wish I could be as relaxed as you all seem. But I did spend time at the school this summer, it was my chance to get away from my kids. LOL is that bad?
I'm gearing up for my big meeting in the morning with the county PTA president. We're in the process of switching over, so I've really had my hands full!
When this is all done with then I'll try to get into the school to at least pick up my mail.
No, not a bad president at all. Just someone who knows their limitations. You know that you'll be alot during the school year. So take it easy and enjoy the "quiet" life.
I'm jealous, we're doing construction and don't start until 9/15!!
I hear a few other towns in the area are in the same boat as us. I haven't been in the school since mid-june and don't plan on going back in until school starts. Does that mean I'm a bad president or what?
