The 'list' of things Santa is bringing my 10 year old this year:

Master Duelers Deck- I don't know what this is, but it is "like YuGiOh Mom"...
Real Bongo Drums- I've seen him 'drum' the bottom of a water jug for the last time...
PlayStation 2- we got one of the first ones ever made and it has been to the shop 7 or 8 times for manufacturing defects... I'm not sending it again... bought a new one... at least this way I don't have to buy new games...
PlayStation 2 games- not a peep from anyone please...
Personal CD player- one that has a anti-skip thingie on it...
Karaoke CD's- something to go with those bongo drums...
Books- The Original Laptop...
Pants, Shirts, Socks, Underwear- you know, filler for underneath the tree...
Odds and Ends- the regular crap that you find on sale in January and put away... yoyo's, artsy stuff, spinning tops, etc.

I'm not sure what the hubby is surprising me with, but I know what I bought for him to give me: Opal earrings and necklace... he has such good taste... and he got them on sale...

my eleven year old likes anything that has to do with science or building, science kits come in all sizes and types! I just pulled out the Chicken Soup for the Soul Christmas Treasury for kids, my principal got it for me last year at this time. It is a great book to get things in perspective, now i think i need some hot cocoa!

JHB omg I saw those squishy pillows.......very very cool. If I can find one in an army green then I'm grabbing one for my son. I ordered a book last year this time on Amazon...it wasn't backordered then a week later I got an email that it wouldn't be in tell after Christmas, then I got an email saying it would come in a week earlier.......THEN i got another email saying it wouldn't come in tell mid January. It showed up 2 days before Christmas....so beware!

We are finally going out today (after the Colts game of course) to shop. My mom is coming over to babysit wooooooooooooohooooooooo!!

There is a Children's Museum store downtown I'm going to go to and see if I can find some of earth's natural minerals for my son (he wants some ore and iron and all the other stuff, not quite sure why)

I swear the older they get the harder it is!!

mykidsmom - On the CD clocks - I've seen them advertised with some of the Christmas circulars. Seems like the prices is $29.99 - $49.99. There's one at Circuit City for $29.99.

There's also a $40 one on Amazon. They have it on sale for $34 and then there's a $20 rebate - so makes it $14 (free shipping). I need to double check the rebate details, but if it looks doable, I'll probably order that one.

Note - I was going to order the Amazon one a couple weeks ago, but at the time the website said backordered, shipping in January. Doesn't say that today, but I need to check it out.

SHC- we went through a weird phase when my son was 2nd (maybe 3rd). He's alway been a "sports kid" but he's also good with academics. Not the type to prefer reading in general (like me!) - he DID like to read.

Anyway, we went through this stage where he just moaned and complained against any reading. Although he never said it outright, I honestly think he was working through a "it's not cool for boys to admit liking books phase".

Our principal introduced him to "Captain Underpants" and it changed overnight. I can't say I was thrilled with the bodily function jokes and some of the other silly/gross themes, but it really was perfect for the situation.

Now he's addicted to Harry Potter. We got the first 3 in the Series of Unfortunate Events books today at bookfair. So maybe it will be a new avenue for him.

Pottsville Mom-those Lemony Snicket books have changed our lives. My 9 yr old daughter who hated to read last year now has more Accelerated Reader points than anyone else in 4th grade. They're sort of an odd story but she EATS THEM UP. We're thankful for something that makes her want to read!
