Well all.... I just got one of lifes little lessons handed to me by of all people - my kids guidence counselor!

I was doing a special event for my schools staff (everyone - not just teachers) and was joking with one of the staff they should do it. Well, I got LOADS of attitude with the comment "I won't win anyway! You pull out names until the person you want wins!" (Little background. Last Teacher appr. week, I had basically the same thing happen. I was accused of "showing favorites" which couldn't be further from the truth. I do this stuff on the up and up - taking names out in front of other office staff) This person then proceeds to go into another room and keeps up with this same b&**s(&t (which I overheard)! So I left, very upset and ready to quit the whole chair position. Then I just decided to quit doing the drawings. Well, our counselor got a hold of me today to talk about something else. While we were talking, she kidded me by asking what she had to do to get me to draw her name. Well, you guessed it ......I ended up telling her about what had happened. She proceeded to take me into her office and gave me quite a talking to. The jist: you can't let 2 bullies (that's what she called them!) keep you from doing something you and the rest of the staff so enjoys.

Now, I have to tell you - this was a real eye opener for me! I hadn't even thought of it in this light. And do you know what it did .....it lit my fire! I'm now in the "you can't tell me what to do, pissed off" frame of mind! I will keep doing these drawings, by gosh! I guess we, as adults, can forget that we too can be the targets of bullies! And standing up to them isn't any easier at 38 than it was at 12/13!

Another plus that came out of this. I shared it with my oldest daughter, to let her know that even adults can be bullied and need to deal with it.

onaroll - you're going to have a blast! Can't wait to hear all about your trip when you get back. I'm the same way when we go to Disney World. I was 37 when I went for the first time. Now I'm a lifelong fan!

I finally got the Fix It & Forget It cookbook today. I haven't looked in it yet but I'm going to spend the evening going through it for recipes. Tomorrow we'll have something yummy for dinner.

There was a blood drive at the mall today and I was all set to donate. But, no. The Red Cross changed their guideline and won't let coumadin users donate. You have to be off it for at least 7 days before donating. I guess I'll have to find another way to help.

Thank goodness it's Daylight Savings time this Sunday! It was so hard to get out of bed this morning. I shut off the 5:30 alarm, reset it for 6:30 and when it went off again it was still as dark as night outside. Plus, I look forward to that extra hour of sleep all year!

Shawn - Think of us while you are enjoying the sun ... 45 and overcast (for the past month!) with the threat of snow learking. This weather has put me in a unmotivated mood which can only be recoverable by sun.
Nothing wrong with firing up the bbq & kicking back with a beer while the pacific / delta breezes cool the valley off around 7pm - well except for not inviting us. I am checking the airlines now!

Hi everbody! I only stop in once in a while and here I am. You guys all have some GREAT sounding recipes. I'm definitely going to try them. Did Shawn ever post the turkey recipe?

Thanks again to all with tips on flying w/kids. We leave tomorrow morning! I'M SO EXCITED!!! (geesh - can you tell?) The girls each have their own special tote bag packed with stuff to do, I've got snacks upon snacks. Suitcases are packed....I can't wait for that 80 degree weather. Sure beats the 32 degrees and threat of snow here!

OK - I really need to settle down. I'm going to drive the kids nuts before we leave. I'm at work right now, usually to 3, my boss called and said leave at 1 - yippee. And I think I've typed this all in less than a minute.

Needed to let off energy. Maybe I should take my dog for a walk when I get home. Think that will help? Thanks for reading.
