We have a number of very successful Family Fun Events beginning with the now annual Bon Fire Night, followed by Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, All School Dance and an Easter Egg Hunt. Two other events included a reading event at Barnes & Noble and an event at a local mini golf complex that also has a race track, batting cages, bumper boats and an arcade. At each of those events, we get a percentage back from sales, which helps defray the cost of the other events so that we can offer them free or at very little cost to parents.
We hired a performer and could not have asked for a better result. He was a mime named Toma who does a school program during the day then returns in the evening. In the morning he showed the kids how he could perform stories which they LOVED! then he had them write stories. After lunch he came back and performed their stories! It was so cool And the kids went wild! Well, we told the kids he would be back that evening for the family night. We had the biggest turnout ever! I think they all went home and dragged their parents back. But it didn't bother anyone because the parents loved the show, too. The show is called Young Authors Day and we got it from a company called Mobile Ed Productions.
We do a Back to School Sock Hop, Multicultural Night, Math and Science Night, Hoe Down Picnic, Art Show, Boy's Night, and Girl's Night. There are a few others thrown in over the course of the year, but those are the regular annual ones.

So it seems to me that all of these ideas are in reference to elementary school aged children and their families. What are the suggestions for middle school aged children and their familes when the apathy sets in. I am seriously struggling here. This email address is being protected from spambots. Paula and all of the other PTO/PTG/PTA Memebers out there,
I am a new Coordinator at our school and always looking for new ideas. You all sound really motivated and willing to work hard for your school. I had a Carnival planned but we had to cancel due to lack of parent involvement. We've had Activity Night and Family Movie Night. All were a great turn out but I think your ideas sound really fantastic and I am always looking for something new and exciting. We were asked to try to implement fun but educational days into the school but we haven't been successful so far. Any ideas or help always welcomed.
Sincerely,
Maria Payne This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
P.S. This is my first time on this website, sorry for the "letter like" repsonse.
