We have never had many family activities in our school besides the Fall and Winter Carnivals. My goal this year was to stimulate more family involvement in the school. We have had Library Night (just for K and 1st so far). We decorated Gingerbread Men, did arts and crafts, made a card and read the story. Will do something around St. Patty's day for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Are doing a Sock Hop for 5th and 6th in the Spring. We have also been hosting Open Gym Night. The PE teacher has various games set up in the gym, such as jump rope, hula hoops, rope swing or even a basketball or volleyball game and obstacle courses in the hallways. The kids absolutely love it! All is free! I have gotten so many thank yous from our families stating that the school has needed to do this for so long. During Open gym night I allow one grade per month to set up a fund raiser of some kind. The Kindergarten did face painting and bake sale and made $200 for their class. The 1st grade did tattoos and photos with Santa and made $260 for their class. Great fun!

Paula, Wacky Water Day - that sounds exciting, especially in a hot area, could you share what activities you have during that event. We are looking to incorporate more events to our calendar and change a bit our annual carnival. We host Super with Santa and Gingerbread Shop for Christmas and is very well attended.
