Lowe's Grant

We too were turned down for the grant and we are 60 miles from the closest Lowes. We were given the same reason, "We were not local". It's not just Lowes, we got the same response from Target, and Borders Books. It is sooo frustrating!!!!

I do have some insight for the toolboxforeducation program; that must not be the program you're referring to as distance from Lowe's would not have precluded you from applying.

More than $4 million in grants have gone out through Toolbox for Education this year alone to more than 900 parent groups, and plenty of those were 25 miles from a Lowe's store.

Hmmmm.... you can definitely apply through the Toolbox program in the Fall.

So.... I guess I'd say don't boycott. On the contrary -- support. Because this is the most generous, parent-group-focused giving program we've ever run across.

We tried to apply for the Lowes Grant only to be turned down because the closest Lowes is about 25 miles from our school. It's in a different county and they said they only supported local communities. Local? We ARE local. We thought about boycotting them since we spend a lot of money there as a school and as a community...I thought it was really a poor reason.

Tim - do you have any insight?

Thanks-
Brandy

Congrats.

Well, I'm about 1800 miles south of Cape Cod, but it still got here. :D

Thanks.

Awesome, pals.

We won a $5,000 grant for landscaping 3 areas around our campus -- a reading garden outside the Media center, a science garden (butterfly/wildlife), and an outdoor staff lounge area.

Now that it's official, time to get some local businesses on board (including Lowe's, of course!) and really stretch this $$$.

(After a little summer break!)

Our grantee's kit did not have the tools/advice etc. mentioned in the letter. Did yours? I am assuming it will come in a separate package.

We applied for and received a $2000.00 grant to get resources for our parent resource room, that for two years has been decorated, new book shelves, throw rugs, bulletin boards, love seat, yada yada...only we were lacking one thing...RESOURCES!!! we had a few but this will allow us to really help fill it up and become an important part of helping families! Thanks Lowes and PTO Today! Best part is that I had kept it a surprise and was waiting for the chek...ups brought it today about an half hour before our last meeting of the year...wait a way to end!
