I know...some of this sounds like soap opera material...AS the School Day Turns!!! lol but truly we are in desperate need to get some ones ears open. We cant let these kidders just study for proficiency tests..with out some fun . I dont want my kidders to remember school as prison. All work and no play.

The principal of a public school is a minister?? Yikes. He better be good at changing those hats and keeping them very very separate...otherwise its conflict of interest BIG TIME.

Doesnt matter what , or if , you have a religios faith. Public school is non discrimintory and non denominational. Sounds like your PTOSOULS are mixing and matching.

Try Dr Phil or Mr O Reilly, or Oprah, you might have the makings of an interesting show. And that kind of publicity might just get some things to changes, you just NEVER know.

That is exactly what is bothering me ,samsmom and alot of other parents...there is no vote that has been taken by the pto on wether things should go or stay!!! Heres this new president who hasnt attended a meeting in years...has never been an officer, in fact all 4 officers are new and have never done this before..sooo they are basically being yes men for the princible...who we just found out is a minister too!!!! ahhhhtht plot thickens..lol The bad thing about all this is that 3 of new officers are pretty nice people. The new president is actually a pretty great woman...I couldnt hate her...and I tried!!!!LOL

I guess my biggest problem with what the situation seems to be (from the limited info here) is that this new group is just flying off to do whatever they want without the consent of the majority. Whether it's Math Night, Fun Fair or any other event. PTOs meet the needs of the community, not the other way around. Mykidsmom is absolutely right that there's a compromise in there somewhere.

And my hackles are up the instant zealots use religion as their reason to do whatever pleases them. I'm a Christian and my beliefs guide my personal behavior, but I would never use my faith as a sledgehammer.

Sometimes going to the media gets people back on the right track. Sometimes it backfires. Depends all on your connections in to local media sources.

You guys are wonderful!!! Thanks for caring and trying to help samsmom and I come up with ideas to help save the school traditions that have been around for over 30 yrs.. ugh!! why cant things just be easy???lol Part of me also thinks we as parents should sit back and watch things fail...if parents stop volunteering..for everything they ask, (besides room parenting) maybe they will be forced to give in . It shouldnt be so hard for them to do that considering we already have volunteers to take on a funfair and Santas workshop..BUT having patience is the hardest part...LOL
