Yes..we ended up cancelling in November but we are rescheduled for next Friday - January the 20th. I read through all of the posts. We too look at our school calendar and choose a date where we dont have too many other things going on - and week nights in this area are crazy! So we had no choice but to pick a Friday.
We do not have too many families signed up - but are going to just go for it! Hopefully- we will all be surprised by a great turn out
We hold our movie night, bingo night, and even our school carnival on Friday nights. Our families come out in droves! The best part as a volunteer: you get the satisfaction of putting on a great family event, and you still have basically the whole weekend ahead of you.
I think you really have to look to the families at your school to provide you with feedback on what nights work best for them. Every school is different and good nights can also vary depending on what else is going on in the community.
When we look at planning an event, we check the school calendar to see what is happening not only at the elementary level, but in the middle and high school. We have a junior college in our town and their basketball team has a big following, so if they have an important game scheduled at home we consider that. Then there are holidays, early outs and such. It's a much bigger decision than just pulling out a calendar and picking a date.
Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hi all. I too am new to this game. It seems that everyone is holding events on Friday. Well I arranged a Breakfast with Santa this past xmas and held it on Saturday morning. Lo and behold we had a major turn out. If wew had of done this through the week it would have failed. So maybe we need to consider other times besides Friday or week nights.
