What are the 100 goody bags and how do you order them from PTO today? I can't find that anywhere...

Thanks for the info!

Hi RLE -

FamilyFun magazine is our sponsor for Family Fun & Games Night and a couple of times per year FamilyFun puts together gift/sample bags for groups to use/hand out at their Nights.

The dates change each year, so when the opportunity arises, we determine how many bags are available and when, and we then contact all the groups hosting a Famil Fun & Games Night that month and let them know.

So.... it's kind of an added bonus on top of a great Night, but it's not a core part of the kit. You'll be contacted if there are goody bags available for your Night.

I was just reading through this message and wondered how you asked people to help out? Our school is under 500 students but as President, I spend a LOT of time meeting people and personally inviting them to participate in our events. Our volunteer base can always be improved upon, but overall we do well. I think people don't feel comfortable sometimes sending in a slip of paper to volunteer but when asked directly, and offered various ways to help out, many times the person is more excited and more comfortable about becoming involved. And once you get them for one thing (and it's such fun!) you often have them hooked for future projects!

I'm glad everything worked out well for your Family Fun & Game Night. Did you pass out whole apples and oranges or did you cut them up? We have such low participation Volunteers (2) that we would have to pop popcorn way in advance. Our president wants to use microwave popcorn.

I can't even believe it! Our Family Fun & Game Night was this past Friday night. We had 34 students and parents sign up to attend. We had about 85 show up! We were definitely low on volunteers but I was just grabbing anyone to help. Thankfully, I had enough Certificates of Participation printed and we just had someone writing in the names. We also received the 100 goody bags from PTO Today, so that was a hit too! We played the Mom/Dad Call - a little hectic but fun, The Shoe Scramble Game from the packet too and some easier games for the little ones...duck duck goose, 3 legged races and we had some word scrambles too. We served healthy snacks - popcorn, chex mix, oranges & apples and had lots of juice and water on hand. This was a 100% free night and I think it was a hit! It was loud and a little chaotic, but from what I have been hearing all of the kids had a great time! Thanks for all the words of encouragement ladies (and gents) I am so glad we went through with it this time. Who knows..we may even try it again!
