We've done book swap's also. I limited it to 5 this last time and tried to use vouchers. The vouchers didn't work so well. I also get donated books upfront so there is a starting selection. I now have too many. My problem is also swapping board books for chapter books. never enough goosebumps to go around. Has the defining of like book for like book worked for any one? A book swap! Great idea! I tell you...I love these boards We had a school wide yard sale at my house last spring and we had sooooooo many books donated and left over. The thing is, our library only takes new books. I must have 4 boxes of "read once" books in my garage. I am definitely going to bring this up at our November meeting! Thanks!
I think rather than limit you define. To avoid Barney for chapters, make that the rule--only chapter books for chapter books and perhaps say 3 like books at a time....we haven't had the same problems thank goodness...d
A book swap sounds like a great idea. Maybe limit 2-3 each just in case a student doesn't have any books they can part with. Or if you end up with extras donate them to the library.
