Abby - Aye yi yi.... Sounds like you have a tough situation there. I wonder why this person tried so hard to become VP, only to lay down and do nothing.
I agree with the others who suggest that you review your bylaws and add some info about officer expectations, grounds for removal from office, etc.
Regarding the boxtops. My Boxtops Chairmen always took the boxtops home. It's a great sitting-in-front-of-the-tv project. And, if you're lucky, you can get hubby and kids to help too.
The thing is, you really have to trust the person taking them home to cut, count and send in the boxtops so your school gets the intended benefit. Parents would probably be shocked to know that their efforts are for nothing. I, for one, would mail mine to a friend/family member's school before I would send them in to a group that might just throw them away.
For now, take comfort in knowing that the school year is nearly over. If she's doing a lousy job as VP and nobody wants her to return, she won't win the election. If the officers appoint the committee chairs, then appoint someone else for next year.
On a side note, I once worked with a fellow officer who could not take any kind of confrontation, advice, constructive criticism,
anything. She saw every conversation as a personal attack and responded personally. Draw the line and demand professional behavior from her. Explain that you will respect her as a fellow officer and speak to her with a professional tone but will end the conversation the moment it turns personal.
