I second Crew Chief's recommendation. They may actually be able to stay on the committee for the event as long as the tasks they take on don't require them to work too closely.
Hopefully, they'll understand your feelings and not give you problems.
Meet with the two ladies privately (and seperately). Explain your decision to give the committee a fresh start with a new chairman. Assure them that their talents are important and that you hope they continue to assist the PTA through the many volunteer opportunities. And then maybe go so far as to assign something to them so they can turn their focus to something positive.
For general inquiries, take the high road and refuse to answer personal questions about the fued. Just say, "The committee is currently working with a new leadership team. We're all working very hard and are looking forward to a successful event. We hope to see you there!"
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat but in the true perfection of one's character."
Yes it has come to replacing them. Bt how do you go abot "firing" volunteers w/o causing an issue for the whole PTA and having to air the feud of these two moms when asked what happened??
You said it, "Fire them both and find a new chair". Their bickering and inability to get along will most likely result in poor planning for your event. Since you want your event to be successful, you need to find someone who can get it done without conflict.
I am PTA pres.(2nd yr) and have decided to host a new event for our school. So everyone is excited. Two moms at different times offered to chair this event.I told them they would serve as co-chairs. Later, I found out that they had some sort of tiff over the summer. I blntly asked them both if this was going to become an issue and was told by each they had no problem w/the other. Well, this was terribly understated!! I spent 3 days of pjone calls of she said/she said I played counselor, mediator and mom's play nice. Now in so many words each mom is stating to make a choice of one over the other. They even voiced their fed to the school office which leads to a gossip line. I so not feel I should have to deal w/this poor behavior any longer and want to "fire" them both and find a new chair. Any suggestions on how to handle this ???!!!???
