Problem Parent

Have you just tried telling her that you are doing the best you can and that she needs to realize that everyone has their own style of doing things? Tell her you know she understands the stresses of the position because she tried it for awhile and having someone make constant negative remarks just makes the job harder.

If she doesn't stop after your polite discussion, then when she starts up in the next meeting simply stop and say, "That's not quite relevant to the topic being currently discussed. Could we perhaps table that suggestion for later in the meeting if time allows?"

If that's too subtle-then try asking her if she is putting together her campaign to run for the spot in the next election.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hi Parker, she sounds like a bully, she couldn't handle it but she wants to pick on you. I feel picked on too by my prior president. She doesn't do anything overt but I feel like she sabotages me in subtle ways that are hard to explain like not answering questions directly about the usual ways that things have been done in the past so I can get some idea of people's expectations. I finally after five months of dealing with it just decided to do it my own way, since I could not work it out with her. It may just be that we are on different wavelengths.

I understand all parents are important, but some become too much. I am burdened with a parent who really has a personal dislike of me and therefore feels it necessary to disrupt every meeting we hold with complaints about my president tactics. She is a previous PTO president that stepped down because of the stresses and handed the position over to me 3 yrs ago. Now I don't know what to do with her.
