What You Need

How about an easy, one stop shopping for a decent Roberts Rules summary book and Quicken or MS Money. Yes, you can order these things many places, or get them locally, but if PTOToday adds a "typical PTO budget" template to the software --- that's value add. And, because it's my personal soap box issue, a manual specifically on budgeting...hey, Tim, I've already written it

You could offer a link to a supplier for engraved nametags for the officers, an endorsement stamp for your checks, stickers for school volunteers, inexpensive tote bags (your logo/artwork silkscreened), address stickers and custom notepads...all things that can be easy to get, but if you had a page of "approved" links, that's even easier. Oh... and good PTO clipart!

I thought of more: templates or workplans for typical PTO events like bingo night, carnival, Donuts with Dad, Boo Hoo breakfast, Staff Appreciation Week, silent auction (this could be a real biggy), sock hop, santa shop, etc.

Not necessarilly full-blown kits like the family nights, but just enough info to help the committee get going and make sure they've thought of everything. Obviously, each PTO might have their own twist, but a template/workplan could save some up front planning time. Ideally, the past committee would have left this type of info (ha!), but if the event is brand new, the workplan is that much more valuable.

(note to pals...glad you like the forms. I've relied on them for 4 years)

What items? Anything specific that you've looked for your PTO? Or anything you've had trouble finding?

how about a volunteer hour log program? Maybe this doesn't exists? I do all my logging of hours by hand and it gets confusing...
also how about patience...okay just kidding, I am finding that the more detail forms I have for record keeping the better. Critter's forms are great, in a dream world all of your form needs would be in one book. Other than that I have to agree with Mom about the people.....

Yeah...a gavel! Ballot Box

people.....sorry, no MOMS R US stores....

Seriously, I've had luck with finding these items in catalogs geared toward service groups, American Legion, International Optimist, VFW...Espically a nicer American Flag. Of course a really nice flag can be ordered through your Senator for a small donation. Well worth it.

Question for you, as summer approaches and thoughts turn to back-to-school:

What products are helpful for a parent group to have but very difficult/impossible for a parent group to find?

Crazy example, perhaps -- a gavel.

Are there other things? Would love this to be a brainstorming thread. No wrong answers. All ideas welcome.

Thanks,

Tim
