Maybe it's a byproduct of being active on this forum, but I, too, will be president next year. After four years as a treasurer, and a couple more as secretary, you'd think I'd be ready for a break. But I really respect our school and principal and want to be as supportive as I can (and should I confess that no one else stepped up?!).
Will we need our own "President's Vent Line" discussion category next fall!?
Hi Metzy- when are the elections? You will keep us updated??
I too have an interesting thing. My husband has HATED that I am so involved in PTA. He has constantly complained about how we have no money and it's because I spend so much time volunteering. It has been the source of more than a few arguments over the last couple of years.
Well, he and my son came with me to the convention last weekend and he sat in on the meetings where we passed the resolutions.
Guess who has tossed his hat in the ring to be Council VP??? Aside from the fact that NO ONE has stepped up to fill the position and the elections are a week away, he is actually excited to make a difference!?!
Miracles do happen!

I've been in the same boat. I am finally getting to step down this year as President. I say you gotta do what your heart says. If you feel you want to tackle this again, go for it. If you don't, bow gracefully and say goodbye! You guys have helped me with this decision in the past and I have taken the road to Oz. I will be going onto other things. I wish you much success with whichever road you take.

With our PTA we had all the officers quit at one of our meeting because of this 1 couple from our school. I had just gotten voted in the month before. I stayed and everyone quit(talk about feeling alone!)
It took about two weeks to get together a new Board. That was the best thing to ever happen to our school. We got all new people(some with experience and some without)the new board worked together and accomplished more than any other board ever did.
So look at the positive, out with the bad and in with the good!
What the heck, right? You can do this! I wish I could learn to give up more or rather learn how to micro-manage...it would save me from doing everything!
Let us know how election night goes!
God speed!

C. Brooks, "Now I just need to figure out how to tell hubby!" I have a true story you can relate to. My husband and I were out to dinner with our neighbors/friends. Both us wives were very involved with PTA stuff. My friend says something about how we had a good pta meeting that afternoon, didn't we. My husband says,"oh, yeah, are you about done with all that volunteering?" My girl friend and I burst out laughing and I had to admit that I was voted in as President. I find it's better to tell him that kind of stuff after it's a done deal.
