Welcome to our meeting. As we begin our discussions we want to frame everything with the idea that we are all just volunteers. We are all equal at this meeting and are all just parents trying to do a job for our kids.
It seems to work. And instead of them blaming or pointing fingers you can always come back to "I'm just a volunteer doing my very best for our kids"
You can try this website for the baldridge method. There doesn't seem to be a lot on the web (at least that the teacher knew of) but you can get some literature at the library.
My question is were you elected and if so what is the beef with these parents?? We just started a PTO at my daughter's school and there was NOTHING before and now we are getting complaints that there was no election. This amazes me since no parents were willing to "step up" before.
I would like this baldridge info as well, that way maybe there will be some order whether I am in office or not.
Baldridge Let me check with the teachers/principal. It worked REALLY well for us because it wasn't just the executive board making the decisions. Check back in a day or so...
Hi,
Can you give me more info. on the baldridge thing for how meeting should be held? Is their a site to check it out on? We are having a few people complaining about how we handle the meetings. Our PTO has always been pretty laid back esp. about voting. This is my 2nd year as co- pres. our first year went great now all of a sudden people are complaining. One of our goals was to shorten the length of meetings and we have done so. Trying to stick to 1 hour of time!! Most like this but some don't. Maybe if we get it out in the open and it's voted on they will have to let it go.
