Thanks for all the input. I went to the bank on my lunch hour and got a money order. As for the treasurer, I am in the process of changing the account. I have to get the signature of the new treasurer first. The print out showed that nothing had been done since our last deposit after our year end Carnival, so I can't think of any reason other than she may have "lost" the checkbook and is afraid to say anything! When I was getting signatures last year the FIN was her social security #. Needless to say I filed for a new one and had the address of the school put on the statement and took her home address off. I also proposed that the checkbook be kept in the safe at school and we voted that in, however it never made it to the school! :eek:
Sorry about the other issues, but as far as selling T-shirts, maybe order forms would work well. We sell shirts at the beginning of school, but more get ordered after the fact via backpacks. We found the form clarified the info as far as sizes, who, how many rather than just having the student show up at the office with money.
Here's what we do.
* Send home order forms in backpacks with all students. (Form has student/class info, size, amount, cash/check, and a block at the bottom for us mark order-fill info when distributed, by whom, etc.)
* Form with money attached filters down to school office via teachers who collect with other forms and supplies each morning (tell teachers to staple money to form - even cash - if not in an evelope)
* In the evening, PTO volunteers fill the order, (noting when filled/by whom), make photocpy of order and staple it to shirt tag (folded so student info shows) and leave in teacher mailboxes. Order forms get filed away. Money gets consolidated with a 'funds received' form for the treasurers.
Lol I think I would be more worried as to why the treasurer refuses to turn over the checkbook. It sounded like they are not the treasurer for this year. Is that right? You might want to see if you can get a print out of the checking account from your bank. Not to think bad of anyone buttttt, you have to wonder why they refuse to give it to you.
I'm going to try to set up at sport functions and then if I need to the company we got them from as a generic order form we can send home with the kids. I did have several parents comment that they did'n bring their wallets in, and some asked if we would be selling for a while. Sooooo, maybe it's not as bad as it seems!
What a nightmare!!! I feel for you. Do we have the same Treasurer? LOL Can you sell the shirts at another function, or send out a letter? We also sell shirts, but only order what is ordered by parents. We send out a letter off an on during the school year. Good Luck! I wish mine had started today, we have to wait until Monday. :eek:
