Thanks Christina,
Will do!! I've already pulled more info from other sources than was contained in what she left me last night. (couldn't sleep so stayed up and read them). There are some missing reports so I will need to do some cross referencing to fill in the gaps but it can and WILL be done.
have a great year!
I'm the new PTO president of our school this year and I know what your feeling! I called the lady on the phone and she agreed to meet me and give me everything she had Well I met her and all she gave me was junk magazines! I called her back up again and ask for the minutes from past meetings etc... She said you want to know about the money part call the treasurer and the minutes call the Sec. and so on. She told me other then that I'm on my own. So we decided as new officers to take our knowledge of the PTO and work from there and we are doing fine! So my advice to you is use what you have learned over the years and just smile and keep your head up it will work out.
Christina
Thank you both very much!! I am the previous VP and I wasn't given much info then either. Lawyer - it's on the list behind the Attorney generals office. Our Treasurer is supposed to turn over her books to the new Treasurer today (keep your fingers crossed) It seems our old Prez WILL call our new VP. I've already been planning and reading and getting ready for the year without my info. Our new group meets in 3 days and we will work with what we have. I've even talked with a "former" President from years back for advice so we will give the old Prez a little more time to do the right thing. If all else fails, looks like the law will have to become involved. I just can't believe someone would do this!!! Like you said, they put all this hard work in only to make it difficult for then next group. Their kids are still in this school, don't they think about that??? I guess sometimes I expect too much from People.
Thanks again!!!
We went through the same situation last year...we did not receive the books until after school had started. You need to get the finacial stuff first and foremost from the treasurer. That way you can plan your budget and know how much money you have to start with. You also need the bank information changed to delete former officers off the account. I found that most of the info the President reluctantly handed over to me was things that had no bearing on what our new group was doing anyway. People have such a hard time with these transitions that is is totally absurd to stall an organization that you have devoted so much time to. I'd suggest that your group do what we did...talk to the principal, if they are unreachable...call the school board and explain your situation and perhaps they can call the former president directly. In the mean time get your new group together and plan out your budget for the upcoming year, functions, and all that so when you do get your books you will be ready to go:) Good Luck!!
