Our general meetings are open to parents and everyone can speak. We do have executive board meetings but usually when we have them most parents don't come or we have it at a local restaurant or something.

Board meetings are open to parents not on the board or teachers-- they just don't have a voice at the meeting-- they can listen only--
We go over what we will go covering at our normal PTO meeting for that month--- which committee's will report and than any board related items to be discussed-- these meetings are usually 30-60 min. max---
Our board meetings are open. We believe that the PTO is in existence FOR the parents and teachers of the school and to be a truly successful PTO you need input from those parents and teachers. If the PTO is surrounded in "secrecy" you don't get as much participation and many parents begin to resent the PTO.
Since the inception of our school, the monthly board meetings of the PTO have been "closed" to non-board members and "confidential". Can I hear some feedback on how your PTO operates their board meetings versus their general meetings and the "why" you do it that way?
