Help me out here. We have a parent who attends all of our meetings. She doesn't volunteer for a thing, but is at every meeting stirring the pot. She has 2 children at the school, one who is in 1st grade. This year the 1st graders are a little rough and there are some behavior problems that are disruptive to the classes. This mother uses the PTO meetings as a forum to discuss this issue, which to me is not an appropriate topic for discussion at the meeting, but is more suited for a discussion between her and the teacher and/or principal. These conversations spur other off topic conversations and the meeting becomes a b*tch session. She has even gone so far as to send an email (cc'd me) to the principal asking her to address this behavior issue at the next meeting -- wording the email as if we as a group discussed this and agreed to it. Our teacher involvement is in bad shape ... partly because of this kind of behavior. The Principal is just fed up. I'm angry and frustrated and bleeding from biting my tongue, but I feel like I need to address this at the next meeting, as well as reply to that email making it perfectly clear that this was inappropriate and misrepresented the situation. Before I do, I want to know what kind of issues you address at your meetings, where you draw the line, etc. The other leadership team members are on board with me on this one, however, we're a new group, so I thought I'd ask you guys what your experience has been.
