beignets&coffee - I do that, too - if I want to keep it. Or for printing you can cut/paste or print selected text only.
But the real point is, we shouldn't be exposing all these email addresses unless there's a need. Often it's a committee and they need to be able to email back and forth. But on a big group/announcement type thing, I think some people just don't know to use the Bcc field.
It doesn't always show up by default. So for anyone who doesn't see it. Look in the help section of your email program and search for "Bcc".

JHB - when that happens to me, what you describe, when i get a laundry list of names and addresses longer than the text i want to print, i FORWARD the message to myself, cut out the extraneous stuff in the header, and print just the text! talk about the use of the button FORWARD, very useful indeed sometimes.

ref PRIVACY. of course we all have access to student and staff directory, but sometimes mails also get forwarded to third parties outside of these directories for whatever reason, it does happen.
the button FORWARD, also forwards the emial address of all those CCd (BCC does not).
it doenst take many forwards in series til your adddress is POTENTIALLY in the computer of someone without virus protection etc. and some PCs store all incoming addresses, and some viruses auto send to everyone in your address book,,,etc etc.
BCC trumps CC everytime. if all need to know the distribution list , you can add it in the text, ie this msg is going to all parents, or all committe chairs etc...

I use Microsoft Outlook for my mail. I used it to set up a distribution list for the teachers just last week. Sure they all know each other's emails and they are posted out in public on our District's site but I've got a thing about privacy. You can use the "Help" option and the program will walk you through how to make a Distribution list. Whenever I have a message to go out to all the staff (I figure this will be VERY rarely) I will just hit one button and have all the emails in one place.
As more and more parents sign up with their email addresses and ask to get newsletters, I will do the same thing.
Just got an email announcement from a well-meaning volunteer with about 75 addresses of displayed. I really don't need the email addresses of these strangers, nor do I want them to have mine.
Plus - heaven forbid I want to simply PRINT the message. I'll waste a whole page just printing addresses.
So I'm bumping this post as reminder for this year.
