Naturally this is in reference to a difference in opinion between myself and one of the chairs in "my" group (I'm the pres).
My fundraising chair is miffed because I asked to see a contract she was about to sign involving a vendor AND I wanted the rep's phone number to clarify some questions I have. Yes, I was nice about it. I couched it terms of, "hey--can you drop off a copy of the contract/phone number before you sign it? I want to make sure I understand everything myself." You're right--I don't trust the chair's judgement these days. She's overextended herself with other projects and had a personal issue in her family, and she dropped the ball on quite a few details with our last fundraiser. She feels strongly we should use the vendor to run a fundraiser this spring since we've never done it ourselves before. I understand her pros, but I feel the con (handing over a lot of money - 25% of our take PLUS "incidental costs") far outweighs her pros. Especially since we're doing the bulk of the work anyhow.
I feel that as president and being the one responsible for everything I should be "allowed" to be present at meetings etcetera with vendors and when the fundraising chair meets with my ever-so-helpful principal. [img]tongue.gif[/img] I'm a "new" pres with no experience with PTA/PTO issues like this. Is my fundraising chair out of line or am I overstepping my bounds by wanting the contract in my hand before we sign and for wanting to call the rep myself? I really don't feel I am, but I'd appreciate your feedback.
