Msychel, thanks for the tip for www.orgsites.com! It was so easy to create a website, did it in just a couple of hours! ...and I've never done this before!
Show & Tell time: PF-PTSO or www.orgsites.com/va/pf-ptso/

We do have a PTSO page through the High School website, but we have to submit all info by e-mail and then wait a week or 2 before it's posted. On this site, I can update info, calendar, add pages and web links in a matter of minutes. I've even learned how to convert graphics to gif files and change documents to html! I too keep going back, changing and improving the site, adding new items!! It's adicting and fun learning new tricks!

Thank you for your responses. You all have wonderful websites...keep up the good work. When ours is up and running, I will post a link as well.

Thank you again,

CarrieM - Thanks! I have been working on it a lot lately. Little more work than I anticipated. Part of the problem is I continue to find ways to improve. I know our board was excited. The more ways we can comunicate w/ parents the better.

Good luck! Let me know when you get yours up and running! ;)

We are in the beginnings of our website - www.almedapto.org . Got the domain name from directnic.com - $15.00 a year. The hosting is done by lowesthosting.com - $4.95 a month, year prepaid. Features include: Free Domain or 1 Year Extension, Unlimited Hits Up to 200GB Transfer, Unlimited POP-3 E-mail Accounts, 200 MB of Web Site & Email Storage, No Commitments...Cancel Any Time, Free & Fast 24 x 7 Customer Support.
Their customer support is GREAT! They reply real fast to any question that is not supported in the FAQ. I am not connected to them any way - this means I aint gettin any cash for this post! :D

Our Website is www.Delcroft.com . After much research & trying other companies (myschoolonline, too), I went to www.hostfor2bucks.com They have a pretty generous amount of space & they include your domain name registration. It's around $2 a month and you have the option to upgrade to more(we have a lot of info & pictures & I'm nowhere near our limits). They also give you the option to have 10 email addies & you can use Front Page to create your site & then upload the pages or you can use their web designing program. I like that you can choose your own domain & have the extra emails. Feel free to email me with any questions! This email address is being protected from spambots. Agree on myschoolonline. My biggest problem there is the url you have to use -- very complicated. One of the biggest challenges with a pto website is making sure your parents can find it. I think it's well worth the investement to buy a url (web address) that's memorable like:

xyzpto.com or xyzpto.org or xyzparents.com

You can then really easily include that memorable url on all of your materials. Who's going to remember www.myschoolonline.com/site/0,1876,2133-152147-2-26761,00.html or something? It's nuts. There's nothing more useless than a developed web page that no one visits. And custom urls are not very expensive ($20 per year or so).
