ear,
Under this same topic look for a thread that says something like "maybe we should start our own donations list". There are lots of ideas some with addresses. There is even a sample letter.
Also, if you have the time to do some serious reading on this forum, you'll find LOTS of info. I think there are postings on approaching businesses, sending letters, even ways to organize the auction itself. Be sure to set the "toggle" from 45 days to ALL.
Good luck,
Jo
Dottie, sounds like you are a pretty popular lady! I'm new to this site and just came upon your posting about a donation list for auctions. We hold a holiday auction each December usually getting donations from local businesses. I would love to be able to contact other businesses, i.e., American Girl, Gap, etc. How do I get to the donation list that you posted? Where is the donation site? Please help. Thanks. I appreciate your help.
Well I delivered......... and thanks for everyone that came to my defense.. geez I didn't think I would get slammed for it. But you know what.... that's allright. Look up under the donation list and you will see that it's posted there. I also have a new email address.
Tim,
Thanks for coming to Dottie's defense. It was starting to get a little ugly. I agree that the new thread is a wonderful idea. Personally, I believe it's Dottie's business, not ours, if she chooses not to reply.
I agree with you Tim. Quite possibly that is what happened, and I think we can all understand that. Hey, we're nice people, we're volunteers!! I don't think it is too much to ask for Dottie just to make a post and tell us it was more than she expected. At least this way everyone would know to stop e-mailing everyone else to see if they got the list. And, possibly, we could talk Dottie into posting on the new topic of getting our own donators list going. Maybe she could just list 2 or 3 companies every couple of days. But if not, at least let us know to quit trying to find someone with the list. Debbie E
I don't know dottie, but let em offer a general defense:
We've heard from folks in the past who've offered "something" interesting with a "just email me for it" type message.
We've heard that those folks have received hundreds of private email requests. So Dottie may not have realized what she was getting into and perhaps got overwhelmed by requests.
I think the new thread is a great idea. Folks can post ideas right on the Forum and they'll be available 24x7. Beautiful.
