Auction/Carnival Update

Auction/Carnival Update was created by Dottie
Boy am I glad that the carnival/auction is over for this year. It was alot of work. I'll try and re-cap the different things that we did and how they went.

Lunch/Dinner - (It was a all you can eat Spaghetti dinner) I would not do it again. Very poor turn out when the weather hit 90 they did not want to eat spaghetti. So we were literally stuck with ton's of leftovers.

Outside games - Bungee Run/Sumo wrestling/Bounce house/Balloon Tyfoon/Caterpillar crawl - I have mixed feelings on this. The kids loved it, but for the cost (around 2000.00) I don't know that it was worth the cost. Did we break even on it? The answer is No but we went into it knowing that we would not break even on it.

Inside Carnival games- Great! We changed all the games this year. They were well worth the trouble and time.

Auction - Now for the biggy! We had ton's and ton's of stuff. Made most of them into baskets. With the exception of a few items it was worth it. We made money on this and it should offset the outside games.

Now that things have calmed down even though I have not caught up on my sleep (LOL) I have had several emails asking me where to contact to get these items donated. If you will email me again I will send you my listing. For example American Girl Doll Collections will send you their latest doll. They only do it one time for your school. THe doll we got was valued at 100.00. The autograph pictures where the biggest surprise of the night. I did not think that they would bring any money to speak of but they did exceptionally well. As did the basket's that the companies sent.

The biggest disappointment for me was the poor participation. The kid's where great. But when you have a officer that doesnt show up to do her part..... well it really bothered me but then again that's life. Basically it was the same one's that always do things and in a event like this one you have to have lot's and lot's of help. Which we did not have. To many thing where going on that day and it hurt us. We are thinking about a fall carnival this next year. Well that's my update and I'm sorry it's so long. I know that there are things that I have forgotten but I'll fill it in as we go.
