In a silent auction we auctioned off a reserved parking space for the special school programs. A doctor bought it. This way he can come in right before the program and doesn't have to park out in the "back forty."
We also auctioned off special coaching in the batting cages from a local community college baseball coach. This went over well. People seemed to like the things that you can't neccessarily go out and buy.
These are so great. I'm wanting to tweak our silent auction this year to have a variety of items (especially the personal ones!). We get a lot of show tickets and such (we're a suburb of Las Vegas).
MaryPoppins (Aly)-- I'd sure appreciate you emailing me your additional ideas.
Thanks bunches!

One of our biggest sellers is a quilt. Each student in the classroom take a square home and decorates it with mom and dad. We use school colors for the border. It can also be a themed quilt such as an alphabet quilt, each child decorates their square with their assigned letter.
Another idea is to auction off a 10 pack of front row tickets to the schools Christmas pagent, or School play. If your school has a popcorn machine, offer 10 free bags of popcorn to go along with the tickets.
Our local fire and police depts. offer a night at the station. The highest bidder get to see the action from the best seat in the house riding along with our home town heros. This is a hot ticket item, because it is generally one of the few geered directly towards our dads.
I hope some of these help.
Each classroom selects a theme for their basket. Parents donate items in that theme and a volunteer can arrange the items in some type of container, like a basket, etc. Themes can be for a cat, dog, snacks, movies, scrapbooking, baby, reading, kitchen gadgets, etc. You can think up tons of ideas. Ex. dog- chew toys, biscuits, dog brush, rawhide treats....
"Auctioned off" means selling at your auction. Put a starting bid on it. You can be surprised at what people will pay for them. we do not have good money results on LARGE "baskets". We find making smaller ones brings in the money.
