QSP does not, and did not have Giftco items in our gift catalogue.
The Giftco challenge has affected mainly the smaller, independent fundraising companies, as they utilized the Giftco gift catalogue and prize program.
Though I am in competition with three other gift sale people in my area, I feel for those who caught in the tough situation of having to revise their gift sales or prize programs.
Bottom line - with any fundraising program, find a representative and company that you can build a strong relationship with. Your fundraising representative will go out of their way to help you and your school be successful.

It's actually the reverse...the bigger companies purchased all of or most of their goods from Giftco....Example: Sally Foster had items in their catalog they are still trying to replace, QSP had the same....The only way to tell if these problems have been fixed is to ask them to see their new catalog with the changes, and the old catalog they printed before Giftco went out of business. Have them indicate to you what items have been replaced, look at carefully. The smaller companies purchased in the U.S and used various vendors.
Along with other companies who are not affected by the Giftco challenge is QSP. The QSP gift program (and student prize program) does not have any Giftco items at all. Also over half of the items are made in the USA.

It all goes back to what I mentioned earlier in this thread. Some schools are not as profitable for the company after all of the bonuses, prizes and brichures have been given. Others, like school like yours, make more money for the company. They are will ing to reward you for doing repeat business with them. In the past Sally Foster had a Points program where you gained loyalty points to use for ordering additional prizes for your school. The more fundraisers you did with them, the more points you earned. The earlier you signed up the more points you earned. The more money you collected..... They discontinued this program. Now they are giving money (additional profit as a bonus) instead. They are saying you have the power to pick you own prizes and bonuses.
The additional 5% profit from your gift wrap sale is a bonus for doing 2 separate programs. The additional profit will come out of the sales persons overall commision. Sally Foster reps are salaried plus commision. The rep may be willing to give up their commision to the school in order to get the overall sales to hit their sales quotas. They are still receiving a salary so they are not losing all of their money on your school. The cookie dough price is the same as many competitors but because of the cost of the catalog is less than other product items, they pass the additinal profits on to the customer. In my area half of the cookie dough companies are giving 50% profit with a prize program. But no additional bonuses. The companies that give less than 50% are offering parties and limo rides in their prize program. But a limo costs about $250. If you sell $10,000 in cookie dough, you will make an additional $1,000. That's enough to rent your own limo and pocket the additional $750!
Please keep in mind that Giftco is a distributor and not a manufacturer. National companies who had a few Giftco items will not be affected- Great American, Sally Foster, Innisbrook. They can buy directly. It's the smaller mom and pop type companies and smaller regional companies who will have a hard time scramblong to find replacements.
