Can someone please send me a copy of the Access database? I did for my child's school this year. I used the data from PTO Manager and then had to do many manipulations to get it to work. I did encounter the Jimmy Smith with mom - Sue Jones & dad - Bob Greene and also there are 2 Susie Whites - each have siblings, so I ran into hiccups in alpha sorting/eliminating dups and would love to see what someone else has done. I even had to do manipulations for sorting by grade since we host some learning delayed (hope that is PC enough - the acronymn used is not a common term) multigrade glasses, which I imagine other schools do or have combined grades - and we did not want to lit the acronym in the list here - just the child's grade.

Instead of an "opt in" form that is sent home, you might want to do an "opt out". Our first school directory, we did the "opt in" where we asked parents to let us know if they wanted their info in the directory - we wnded up having to do a second directory as we got lots of submissions AFTER we printed the directory. Since that year, we have done the "opt out" and don't have near the problems with someone forgetting to get their permission in to us. We do send a reminder after the initial notice - about halfway to the deadline date.

I'm now responsible for Membership and our Student Directory. The problem is, we have never before had a Student Directory and I'm looking at NOT reinventing the wheel.
