Hey I think I have found my group. My hubby SWEARS I am obsessed! Maybe I am ....up everynight till 2am typing and up at 7am to start again. My second year as president and I am trying to do the entire boards job. I dont know why except I am a suck-up and HATE to delegate authority. Last year my father was in the hospital 19weeks.....he went in 4 weeks before our Spring Fling...Sepsis...very little chance to live, our VPs daughter has cerebal palasy(Spelled wrong) and she had to be put in a body cast four several weeks so she needed time off, out treasures father in law was in a car wreck and soon after two month hospitla stay died. This was the hardest time in my life but i gave EVERYTHING I had. I still do it this year plus my dad is unable to walk so I do homehealth for him and my daughter does ballet, gymnastics, brownines and cheerleading (did I mention I am the coach). Plus I do classroom volunteer, the school clothes closet and let me tell you we just had our duck race this past weekend and are getting ready the week of Oct 18 to do bookfair, grandparents week, cookie dough delivery, Super party on Friday and Fall Festival on Sat. PTO is involved with all of this. So if someone asks would I do it all again....Are you crazy of course I would. All I have to do is see my daughters smilimg face evrday when I am out there and to hear her say Mom I love when you work at my school. I think you are cool. My reasoning is PTO + Crazy Obssessed folks = PTO is COOL!!! Life only goes around once why not give it all ya have! ;)

okay I have been thinking about this one...obsession must be dressing up like a slice of PIE and carrying a picket sign that says "have a slice of PIE(parent involvement in education) in the halloween parade. Obsession must also be wearing a chicken hat and giving a talk about"not being chicken to be involved" to the kindergarten parents. Obsession also must be letting your principal cut off 12 inches of your hair because the parents lost the staff versus parents volleyball match.yes 12 inches!!! Obsession also must be cutting out 476 leaves and putting a student name on each leave for fall fest decorations. now that i am writing all this im not obsessed I must be NUTS!!!!

Okay C.Brooks, I'll try this one, you all know I have a ton though!

Spring of 2002 I was due March 29th with little Zoe. Well, that year I was also the "Lone PTO Officer" as my Treasurer flaked out, Secretary said she never agreed to the position and my dear VP had more health problems than I had gained in #pounds! SO I ran the skate parties, cancelled ANY other fundraisers planned and awaited my little girl. Well, March 29th (our due date) came and where am I? At school! I even had a parent say "OH MY! Look at you! I had no idea you were pregnant!! You poor thing, when are you due?!" "Today." "OMG!!!!" yeah whatever lady...... Went to the doctor after school and I was having contractions but nothing to rush to the hospital over. The mid-wife and I cried together!!
Tuesday, April 2nd I checked in tothe hospital to be induced and my sweet husband brought my overnight bag and my "PTO bag"...Zoe was born at 10:55, by 11:30 we were enjoying lunch and going over the PTO account.

Zoe is REALLY good with numbers too! :D

The Spring of 2000 was also a time we laugh about...now. Parents at our school decided to accuse the Principal of misappropreation (sp?) of funds. She went to Ireland on a grant to set up a sister school situation and it failed. By April/May I was on the phone an average of 7 hours a day talking to concerned parents on the side of the Principal. Well, elections were held (I think there were over 100 parents present- never seen so many people!) and the new President was in the thick of the contraversay. As a matter of fact her son was dating the daughter of the parents that brought on all the charges. During the last School Board meeting called regarding this matter, there were 4 policemen present, 125 parents, two cameras (one news, one parent) and I was asked by the membership to ask the Board to impeach the new PTO Prez AND watch over or disban the PTO until a new more suitable Prez can be elected. Oh yeah, I was 32 weeks pregnant and the PTO secretary. I gave my speech or rather read my letter that the supporters signed, no moe than sat down and the Prez (sitting right behind me) started to object, speaking out of term. I stood up, turned around and scream "JUST SHUT UP!" from the middle of my chest to "God knows where" I had this sharp pain! I was in shock, trying to breathe, and hoping my water wasn't going to break! A cop begins to approach me to take me out of the room and the parent with a camera said "She's pregnant" The cop says "oh" Later I find out the Principal was ready to dial 911! The next day at the doctor he was mad at me because I dialated 2cm THAT NIGHT!
Three weeks later the Principal was cleared of any charges, and four weeks later I had our son.

The Principal appreciated all that I did so much she asked the staff their help to put together a shower for us. One of the gifts, a registartion form filled out for Presley......

All is well now with our PTO but there is now still that cloud but the Principal and I look at Presley and agree we will be fine! The funny part is he still doesn't like the former President very much. He will not say "Hi" to her!
