have to back myshel...it's fun to read others stories because it makes you realize that you are not alone. I don't see it as tooting your own horn. Also half way down this post Tim asked for more obsession stories...keep them coming!
I really wasn't trying to toot my own horn or get a pat on the back. I wasn't feeling like anyone else was either. I truly believe eveyone is doing a lot of hard work and good work. It's just nice to talk about it. You know when your obsessed about something - you HAVE to talk about it.
I think it's great to hear what everyone is doing. Makes me feel like I'm not alone - not that I thought I was, but it is comforting to know your not the only crazy out there.
It's cool that there are so many parents that love and care for their so children to get so involved.
How fun to read these tidbits. How sad that everyone has to toot their own horns in a competition to see who is the busiest mom. YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL AND DO MANY GREAT THINGS. I wonder if anyone has told you that?
Myschel you sound like me the last 3 years!!!
I wrote and edited our newletter (which I initiated 3 years ago) and made the 600 copies and distributed. I was (and still am) book fair chair for both our schools for our fall and spring fairs, which means i ran 4 book fairs per year, I was president, I was on the math advisory committee at school, I was Co Chair with my Co President for our big Winter Wonderland, I ran and organized a family fun night in the spring each year and also kept our website up to date. I also was on our scholarship committee and presenter at the high school and 8th grade award ceremonies. I ran the kindergarten orientation program for 2 years. I am sure I have forgotten so much stuff, basically I lived at the schools and was the "head puppeteer" or our HSA. You know, making sure every one was where they were supposed to be and doing what they are supposed to be doing and keeping the organization running smoothly. Bascially I put in 125% of my energy into our HSA. This year......just book fairs and now onto the high school music booster program as fundraiser chairperson. (We run fundraisers every month and sometimes have 3 going on at a time)
OK It does make me feel better that I am not the only total lunatic out there. I spent all day every day week before last at school copying, stapling, sticking lables, stuffing folders, etc. for Open House. Open House was this past Mon. the 13th, went very well. I had plenty of help, but it still takes the coordination of the main 2-3 people to pull the whole thing together. I got about 3 hours sleep Sunday night. I had to get those student directory forms ready so they could be put in the folders for the next night. IT COULD HAVE WAITED, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT. Open House is the perfect opportunity for a large, attentive audience. We have to take advantage of these rare opportunities. It didn't matter that we didn't have any clean towels in the house, DID IT?
I need to get my husband in here and read all your stories. As soon as I get on the computer he says, "Your obsessing again!" Any friends I have outside of the school I talk about the school and PTO stuff. And he says ,"Your obssesing!"
My husband got back from fly fishing Tuesday we have been tiling our bathrooms. I vowed to myself to not do any PTO stuff the rest of the week. The vow lasted maybe 30 minutes.
I have been on the phone and computer which seems more than usual. It's probably the same amount I just have my husband to point it out all day. He really does love that I am involved so much - He just loves to give me a hard time.
Though he is right that right now I have an overflow. I am the writer and editor of our weekly newsletter - which seems to keep getting longer and not shorter. I am in charge of spiritwear. I am the webmaster for our website. I am donation coordinator for a couple events. I am reseacher (we're new this year and need as much help as we can get). My president doesn't have the internet. So when we need info she sends me a lookin'. And I still have my secretary duties to fulfill.
But in the plus side I was coordinating Box Tops, Campbell's, Tyson and Kash for Kids and now we had some moms volunteer for those. Yeah!
You should see the list of what our President does. She basically lives at the school! She amazing!
