We're a K-5 school. We don't want an all colored book because thats what they give in High School.
We do have a full colored centerfold of the outgoing 5th grade. Our kids pay $12.00 per book and the entire 5th grade gets a free yearbook as a thank you for all the fundraising they have done for us in the past.
What are your students paying for your yearbooks? I was talking to the journalism teacher this week, and she's mentioned that she's finally agreed to go to an all-color yearbook this year, but the price will be going up to $35.
This is for a middle school with about 900 kids. Like many of you, we are not a wealthy school. I think about 42% qualify for free or reduced lunch.
This seems excessively high to me. How much do yours cost?
We also use lifetouch. For a few extra dollars they will print up one book for you to proof before making any other copies. I find it's well worth the money. Last year we did find a few things to fix off of the proof before mass production. I would highly recommend them!
My husband works at Jostens. They do 90% of yearbooks out there. They are wonderful. You can do everything via the internet. They send you the cd that has the templates, and you work it from there and if I can do it, anyone can. LOL
