Yeah, Chase is still doing black and whites. They are kind of tacky. I am hoping that we can get them to pay for color ones and my husband will do all the work for free. The only thing Josten's will have to do is print them. That will save us a bunch of money. I like the idea of a video book and shirt. Who will do it? I have some contacts for the shirts if you need them.

We are a K-5 with about 400 students - our year book is ordered along with the school pictures package. We (PTO) have nothing to do with it - and that is fine with me. It is a soft cover black and white. I don't remember the cost but there are no leftovers, no special orders for the poor just buy one if you want it. In fact, I can't help but wonder if the PTO did produce it those sort of politics would end up entering into it. We were talking spirit wear last week and a teacher asked that very question. Can we overcharge the ones that buy and take that extra to buy for people who could not afford. That suggestion died in a hurry - and we don't sell that much to begin with.
Is Chase still doing those black and whites? We tried a yearbook and had lots leftover and didn't make what we put into it. We are setting up a program to do a video yearbook for next year. We also offered to help teachers get plain tshirts and markers so kids could have each others names on a shirt to remember them by. This seems to work much better.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
WE did a yearbook at our elementary school for the first time last year. It was only for the outgoing 5th graders. We asked for donations to cover the cost. Unfortunetly, we only got a third of what we needed, so the school ended up paying for them. I am hoping to upgrade the middle school one this year, its a black and white xerox thing. I met some resistance at the meeting last week, but once I can get a quote maybe that will help.
Hi Guys... I am wondering if any of your schools find a way to give free yearbooks to low income/poor kids?? If yes how do you decide who gets a free one?? And how many do you give out??
Great info. on this post about the yearbooks keep it coming!! Thanks
Dan,
To eliminate having leftovers, we take orders at registration and then one more time after the first of the year. It's all prepaid so we know how much to order. The school does order a few extras for those who procrastinate too long! Don't know if your set up would allow for that, but might be worth a try.
