Are you trying to make me jealous?? ;)
Right now I would like to see this guy kiss the other part of the pig!!!!

I have a Miss Piggy muppet (remember Muppets Tonight?) well, I was asked/dared to bring her to the BBQ with a sign that says "No pigs were harmed in the planning of today's event!" Open a can of worms or a can of Whoop A**.....hhhmmmm ;)

I wish this link I'm posting showed the pictures! The front page of the local newspaper last week had our principal kissing a pig! It's one of those small local community weekly papers where the whole front cover is a picture, so it was one very big picture (11 x 15 or something like that).... We're in Virginia, and the pig was visiting the area from Connecticut--he went to a whole bunch of schools around here doing the same thing.
Here's the story: www.connectionnewspapers.com/article.asp...643&paper=64&cat=104

I know what made him react like that, he heard from someone that this idea was bad so stop it. That someone was the (oh, you'll love this) principal's husband! I wish I was kidding. The Seniors and Student Council had been doing pie in the face and one teacher challenged them to rasie so much and he would cut his beard...etc. So when we brought the pig idea the majority loved it but it's this "bad apple" that people coward to that I'm at a loss. Her husband helped found our charter school and he deals with the bank loans, lawyers, etc. It's weird, like a small business to him, right or wrong...I'm not touching that one with anything!

I do want to re-schedual this during another event like Homecoming etc. Oh yeah, the other concern was the pig would bite someone...I've only seen that happen once in all my life, but my Uncle had it coming! Yep, little details that no one bothered to say "Hey..." just cancel it.

only five more days of school........

I was asked to wait to discuss the matter with the ONE Vice Principal that didn't want to do this fundraisier (he almost canceled Prom because a few details weren't going right and it was taking too much of HIS time!). So after 90 minutes of waiting, he finally talked to me with the first words "So what are you going to do now?" By then I just wanted to go home after telling him what I REALLY thought BUT I didn't,I just tore up the activity request and said "Cancel the whole thing if no one will tell me anything." are you ready...he said "Fine" and walked away!

We may hear more about this Vice Principle. Is there a way to figure out what makes him react like he does. It seems a bit harsh. Maybe he thinks it's not his job to deal with extracurriculars (Prom) and fundraising. If he does can someone else do it in his place? He seems to have a spartan philosophy that doesn't value these things. That would make it hard to accomplish much.

About the skate pass fundraiser--what is it? Instead of sending them home, could you hand them out? We had that problem with our cut-a-thon, and that's what we ended up doing.

By the time I got the final flyers, it was so much more to correct the info or reprint them than it was worth. The skate passes are offered by a locally owned roller rink and the passes are $2 (PTO $1- Skate rink$1) and it gives kids and parents the chance to go skating for $1 per person with the pass during certain skate sessions that are listed on the pass. We also have skate parties with this company that brings in money for us ($1.25 per skater, increases of course per 100 skaters).
This is the first year I was dealing with this Asst. Principal (he normally handles High school affairs and I've always had elem. students)
It's amazing how word or people's memories work out! Today a mom that also has a day care bought 17 passes!! And is going to tell another day care provider about it! That's were I have found the nicht. Anyway, I will have the passes at the skate party (this Thurs.) and that has worked out great too!
I didn't say this out loud, but sometimes you gotta learn the rules then learn how to worm around some! ;)

It's amazing how so many different people can behave the same in a scary way! When people say "communication" is key--it's true!

I'm glad you can laugh about it--sometimes that can be hard to do, and nay time you can it's a blessing!
