Kiss-A-Pig nightmare

My daughter opted to join 4-H instead of girl scouts so there is a ag connection, but my other thought was to call a vet school/college OR the county extention office. My brother-in-law offered but we were worried about bringing a pig 600 miles and keeping it in my backyard would have been more fun than my husband (city slicker) could stand!!
**we talked about serving pork sandwiches at the Staff BBQ this Friday ;) . he he he***

Oh my, so glad you can laugh about it now! I'm glad it worked out for you and I think it was a wonderful idea (I don't know where I could find a pig near here but I think I want to try!)
Keep smiling and don't let the b*****ds get you down!!

This is almost too funny (now that I've had a few days to reflect) and I really need to share this with you all...
As we all do, in the fall we started planning for the year and a kiss a pig came up. LOVE IT! So we started planning a date and the nuts and bolts. Decided the spring would be best as we could get a smaller (60 lb- versus a 200lb adult) pig. What we missed was to ask/mention to the teachers if anyone had objections or didn't want to have apart in the event. SO hear we are now a month away and we are putting up posters, getting copies for ballots, containers for a coin vote, a good spot outside as not to disturb traffic (new gym was OUT of the question ;) better if done outside) etc. you know the final details. Well, nominations were underway and low and behold, I return to the school right before dismissal to find out someone was offended and rumors (well one) that the PTO thinks the teachers are pigs! I was asked to wait to discuss the matter with the ONE Vice Principal that didn't want to do this fundraisier (he almost canceled Prom because a few details weren't going right and it was taking too much of HIS time!). So after 90 minutes of waiting, he finally talked to me with the first words "So what are you going to do now?" By then I just wanted to go home after telling him what I REALLY thought BUT I didn't,I just tore up the activity request and said "Cancel the whole thing if no one will tell me anything." are you ready...he said "Fine" and walked away!

That was Tuesday, by Thursday I had seven teachers e-mail me to console me and tell me it was deaper than what ever was said, I laughed at that because all I knew was I offended someone! Come to find out also, the high school and middle school asst. principals were worried THEY were going to be nominated (the HS Asst. was the one I had the meeting with) and voted by the kids to kiss this pig. UGH!
The teachers want us to reschedual as well as my daughter's friends (middle school kids).

Friday we did end up with 2 inches of snow  and there was going to be an isue with getting the pig to the school (the farmer also works for the County and had a hard time getting to time off) so not all was lost BUT the whole offened thing was just to much!

Did I mention the flyers I couldn't sent home concerning a fundrasier that we have done for 5 years (selling summer skate passes) was also turned down because if he approves this one he has to approve every fundrasier like that.... 1300 flyers wasted (well, now office scratch paper) oh, the activity was approved but I couldn't send home the flyers. good times....
